Dr Richard Pendleton is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician and Anaesthetist.
Dr Richard Pendleton is trained in all aspects of pain medicine. He specialises in the use of minimally invasive and advanced interventional techniques to improve the pain and function of people suffering from spinal and neuropathic pain.
Dr Pendleton is a founding member of Interventus Pain Specialists. His practice is set up to manage all aspects of a patients pain experience, including full assessment and management of the underlying condition and of the sequelae of persistent pain. The overall goal of treatment is not just reduction in pain and suffering, but to increase function, life enjoyment and participation, and decrease reliance on medications.
Dr Pendleton obtained his medical degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1998. He has worked for over 20 years in Brisbane. He has duel Specialty recognition, encompassing both Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. His Pain Medicine training was at the prestigious Professor Tess Cramond Multidisciplinary Pain Centre at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Dr Pendleton has been heavily involved in promoting knowledge and training within the medical community. Dr Pendleton has spent several years training fellows in pain medicine, and co-convened the pain medicine pre-examination short course for 3 years. He is a prior chair of the Queensland Regional Committee of the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
Dr Pendleton consults and performs procedures at the Wesley Hospital. Dr Pendleton is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Wesley Pain and Spine Centre, where he supervises a multidisciplinary pain rehabilitation program.
